Giovanna Battaglia At Dolce & Gabbana Launch

Giovanna Battaglia hosted a cocktail party on Saturday to celebrate the opening of the new Dolce & Gabbana flagship boutique on Fifth Avenue in New York. Ardent supporters of the Metropolitan Opera, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana engaged tenor Matthew Polenzani and soprano Ellie Dehn accompanied by a pianist, a violist, a cellist, and two violinists, as the evening's entertainment for their party. The beloved Italian arias performed by the duo were "La donna è mobile," "Nessun dorma," "Casta diva," "Una furtiva lagrima," "Brindisi," and "O sole mio."

The fabulous guest list included Carine Roitfeld, Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld, Julia Restoin-Roitfeld, Gisele Bündchen, Coco Brandolini, Bianca Brandolini, Peter Brant, Harry Brant, Brad Goreski, Marjorie Gubelmann, Zani Gugelman, Erin Heatherton, Constance Jablonski, Spike Lee, Chloe Sevigny, Stephanie Seymour, Tabitha Simmons, and Ziyi Zhang, many wearing Dolce & Gabbana in tribute. Giovanna was the picture perfect hostess, elegant in red Dolce & Gabbana, obviously.

When asked about D&G and their new location Gio responded, "Well, it's certainly a more established and important place in the American market. To be on Fifth Avenue... it's such an iconic street, and so many millions of people everyday pass through… People care about the soul of the brand, its identity. It goes so far beyond the clothes, it's a complete aesthetic, it's a Dolce & Gabbana world. It's la dolce vita!"

The little smile with the watermelon slice was a leftover homage to the Punk Gala at the Met! Go-Go-Gio!
